Chocolate and Alcohol

Yep. Two highly beloved things that I am giving up for lent -- even if dark chocolate and red wine is good for me. :)

Lucky for me Big Moe's Bday bash was last weekend! (Remind me to gush about The Ivy some time before it fades from my 60 year old memory.)

Also lucky for me that I was able to eat two mucho deli-ci-o-so pieces of Godiva chocolate on Fat Tuesday and Kinder Chocolates this past weekend! Hurrah hurrah!

However, this also means that I am officially designated driver-ing to and from the LA Beer Fest. Oh well. I'm not the biggest beer fan anyway -- better the beer go to those who are passionate about it.

... and yes, boyfriend, I'm talking about you.

Double dose of disappointment.

Disappointment 1.
So I had a dream that I woke up and thought it was Friday, but in my dream it was really Wednesday.

Disappointment 2.
I woke up in real life and realized it wasn't even Wednesday, it was only Tuesday.

Oh what a bust.

oh oh ohhhh birthday bliss :)

"A decade ago, I never thought I would be a 23 on the verge of spontaneous combustion, woe is me."

No, sir, friends, I can no longer sing that line when I feel like I've been spread out too thin and find it acceptable to express myself over-emotionally through song, sans dance.

I am 24.

How does it feel? The same.

Anyway. Birthday weekend was an extended fun time since the Fourth of July landed on a Friday ... hooray!

Friends, family, wine and cake ... It really can't get any better than that -- oh wait, it can, throw in my wonderful boyfriend and we can call it perfect. :)

Thursday pre-birthday birthday dinner with amazing friends at Cafe des Artistes (lamb chops and wine!) in a little alley in Hollywood, followed by more drinks at the Standard in Downtown LA.

Friday birthday dinner at the Hotel Bel Air Restaurant with a flippin' fantastic bottle of a Cobos Malbec.

Saturday BBQ with the fam then off to watch Wall-e.

Here are a few cake highlights:

Thanks to everyone who celebrated with me. I love y'all. Yes, yes I do. And yes, that was a y'all.

random.

I think I'm more of a behind-the-lens kinda girl. I love to take pictures of other people and things and places and etc., but I'm not always too comfortable in front of the camera. I think I've got an issue with the way my face looks, maybe more specifically my eyes. I believe I've got a lazy one... oooh, attractive, I know. eh. So I'm more keen to take a picture if I've got my sunglasses on, or tennis ball sized hemispheres of white chocolate with strawberry swirls covering my eyes (profile picture).

QUESTION.

Jim: Question. What kind of bear is best?
Dwight: That’s a ridiculous question.
Jim: False. Black bear.
Dwight: Well that’s debatable. There are basically two schools of thought—
Jim: Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.
Dwight: Bears do not—what is going on? What are you doing?

Sigh. It never gets old. I love The Office!

koh-reeeeeeeeee-an.

Oh so delicious!

Oh my gawd. I love that stuff.

FINALLY.

I don't live too far from k-town, but parking in k-town's NEVER any fun. Normally I head in that direction for some yummy Korean bbq-ing smelly fun, but I hadn't had soon du boo (Korean tofu soup) in AGES! AGES, I say!

Anyway, GOOOO DAD! Dad and I hit up Young Dong Tofu in San Gabriel tonight. A first for me, but a second for Dad. Now, its no Kaju Soft Tofu (back in Irvine, CA where I first had soon du boo), but it satisfied for today!

These are a few of my favorite Korean dishes!

Soon du boo yum yum! Blurry because its steam'n!

Chap chae -- not as good as my old korean roommate's mom used to make, but it wasn't shabby either!

How can you go to a Korean restaurant and NOT order Kalbi? Impossible!
(Once again, its got that steam'n syndrome!)

Dad sure was foodily satisfied. :)
